Lazurite with Pyrite in Marble Specimen

$70

155g / approx 70MM x 48mm x 38mm

Lazurite is a mineral of the sodalite family, more precisely a sulfide rich variety of Hauyne. Lazurite is the blue component of the 'gemstone' (or, more usually, decorative rock) Lapis Lazuli, which is a lazurite-calcite-pyrite rock that has been mined as a gem material*

These natural specimens consist of Lazurite in marble matrix. Some contain Pyrite, Calcite and/or Pflogipite ( mica-like mineral). Some fluoresce under UV light as well.

Locale: Koksha Valley, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan
