Labradorite is a form of feldspar, named for the Labrador peninsula in Canada where it was first found in 1770. It's know for it's play of color which shows striking flashes of green, blue, gold, orange, red and sometimes violet.
In the 1940's Labradorite was discovered in Finland which displayed the entire color spectrum and was named Spectrolite. Larvikite is considered a silvery gray Labradorite and is from Scandinavia.
