Lazurite in Marble Specimen
25g / 44mm x 30mm x 14mm
*rare example of crystal dodecahedron protruding from matrix.
Lazurite is a mineral of the sodalite family, more precisely a sulfide rich variety of Hauyne. Lazurite is the blue component of the 'gemstone' (or, more usually, decorative rock) Lapis Lazuli, which is a lazurite-calcite-pyrite rock that has been mined as a gem material*
These natural specimens consist of Lazurite in marble matrix. Some contain Pyrite, Calcite and/or Pflogipite ( mica-like mineral).
